Born on December 11th 1977, Yusuf Baran graduated from the Biology Education Department of Dicle University in 1998. He earned his Master’s in 2002 and his PhD in 2006 from Middle East Technical University. From 2007 to 2015, he worked as an instructor at İzmir Institute of Technology.He presented at over 200 conferences on the topics of science, technology and diplomacy in the United States, Brazil, China, Pakistan, Sweden, Azerbaijan, Switzerland, Israel, Germany, Chile, the Sudan, Greece, Macedonia, Thailand, Bosnia, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, Russia, Malaysia, South Africa, Turkey, and other countries. He was invited to and gave talks at important conferences of global institutions, including the United Nations, the European Parliament, the World Science Forum, the Baku Humanitarium Forum, the World Life Sciences Forum, the Center for Science Diplomacy and the Science Leadership Academy.Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran has over forty scientific research projects subsidized by various institutions, more than 350 published scientific articles, national and international conference papers, and one book. Dr. Baran received awards and honors from more than 100 national and international institutions.Since November 2018, Professor Yusuf Baran acts as the Rector of Izmir Institute of Technology. He also is the President of the Board of Directors of Izmir Technology Development Zone.
